Spice (K2) Rehab

Victory Bay Drug Guide

Spice (or K2) is plant matter that has been sprayed with a synthetic cannabinoid. Developed in the early 2000s, this drug was originally designed for research purposes and can produce similar (but much stronger) effects to the THC or CBD found in cannabis.

Because the chemicals used in this drug have no medical benefit and high potential for Spice abuse, the Drug Enforcement Administration has made many of them illegal. However, teens and young adults continue to use the Spice, as it’s considered a “designer drug.”

Spice Abuse

Like cannabis, Spice is often smoked, but because there are so many versions of the drug, it can produce a variety of symptoms among different individuals and lead to a need for Spice rehab. Some of the most common symptoms include:

  • A euphoric feeling
  • An overall relaxation
  • Altered perception
  • Giddiness
  • Hallucinations

Dangers & Effects

Because Spice contains synthetic chemicals and affects everyone differently, it’s considered highly dangerous to your body. In fact, it’s often labeled “Not for Human Consumption.” When used, Spice can produce effects that can lead to a Spice addiction. These effects include:

Short-term effects include:

  • Nausea and/or vomiting
  • Aggression
  • Paranoia
  • Anxiety
  • Addiction
  • Blurred vision

Long-term effects include:

  • Psychosis
  • Hallucinations
  • Increased risk of heart attack
  • Convulsions
  • Panic attacks
  • Increased risk of kidney failure

If an individual uses Spice for a long period of time, their body becomes dependent on it. This means if they suddenly decide to stop using it (without proper Spice treatment), they may experience withdrawal symptoms that include:

  • Anxiety
  • Headaches
  • Depression
  • Irritability
  • Tremors
  • Sweating
  • Paranoia
