WHAT IS SUBLOCADE?
Sublocade (Buprenorphine extended-release) is a prescription medication used to treat individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD). Sublocade is given once monthly by injection and must be administered by a trained licensed medical professional. Sublocade contains Buprenorphine which is known as a partial opioid agonist which means it allows for activation of the opioid receptors in the brain but less strongly than the opioid itself. Prior to starting the Sublocade injection, one must begin treatment with an oral form of Buprenorphine such as Suboxone or Subutex. At Victory Bay Recovery Center Sublocade is prescribed, monitored, and administered by a licensed medical professional. Sublocade in conjunction with counseling and behavioral therapy, can greatly reduce relapse and improve sustained recovery.
