VICTORY BAY

Dual Diagnosis

We recognize that our clients may have varying behavioral, emotional, and mental health concerns in addition to their challenges with substance use. Our outpatient substance abuse treatment takes a holistic approach to care and uniformly assesses for co-occurring disorders and risk factors. All clients entering our dual diagnosis treatment center receive a psychiatric evaluation and routine follow-up appointments with an ASAM Certified Psychiatrist. Our multi-disciplinary team then collaborates to provide well-rounded treatment to meet our client’s needs.

Some common co-occurring disorders are

Depressive disorder can present with many different characteristics and varying degrees of severity. This disease can happen to anyone anywhere. Though there are times depression seems predictable, many times it is not. Symptoms of depression include difficulty concentrating and thinking, changes in appetite, feelings of hopelessness, loss of enjoyment in everyday activities, disrupted sleep patterns, loss of energy or constant fatigue, feelings of guilt, worthlessness, and self-hatred, and thoughts of suicide and/or death.

These symptoms can be constant lasting several years or present only for brief periods of time. Additionally, the severity of the symptoms can vary depending on the type of depressive disorder a client may be experiencing. Medication combined with Cognitive Behavior Therapy is an effective treatment option for individuals to learn strategies and manage their depression symptoms effectively.
